Garnet is the preferred abrasive blasting media in New Zealand. Industrial Minerals (NZ) Ltd supplies many types and grades of Garnet.
The most common grades are:
Suitable for heavy applications that require a very coarse profile. B Grade 1.00 - 0.30 mm 20/60 mesh Suitable for booth blasting and painted steel applications that require a coarse profile. C Grade 0.71 - 0.21 mm 30/60 mesh Suitable for Medium applications such as Mill Scale, booth blasting and painted steel that require a medium profile. D Grade 0.35 - 0.18 mm 80 mesh Suitable for lighter applications such that require a light profile. E Grade 0.25 - 0.10 mm Suitable for Fine applications that require a very light, or, no profile such as vehicle restoration, water jet cutting and turbine blades. Garnet is available washed or unwashed (low Chloride) and is packaged either loose in 1 tonne bulk bags or in 25kg bags with 40 x 25kg bags packed into a 1 tonne bulk bags.
